- Project: Maintenance of Housing Estate Door Entry Concierge Security System

The London Borough of Newham appointed us to develop a concierge system to manage the security functions of the Hermit Road Estate, which consists of some 40 blocks in Canning Town in London’s East End. Our Chief Systems Designer, Richard Daley, designed the entire door entry and concierge security system, including all hardware and software elements.
Part of the estate is controlled via the Hercules Concierge Security System, which was designed by CAI Vision’s Chief Systems Designer, Richard Daley. There are three Concierge Stations situated throughout the estate and each consists of a Concierge computer, CCTV monitors and controls.
The main Concierge station can assume control over the other two stations, so it is possible to manage access control, door entry and CCTV across the entire system from just the main station.
Car parking is also controlled by Hercules giving two-way speech and gate control.
The CCTV system comprises eighty-eight static and Pan Tilt and Zoom (PTZ) colour cameras, located across the estate. The PTZ cameras can be controlled directly from the Hercules system. Pictures are recorded using digital recorders making access to an event simple.
The system offers increased security, has drastically improved the environment and has provided the residents with a renewed community spirit and pride in their estate.
System Operation
Hercules operates via a touch screen interface and easy to use software provides the most intuitive system, allowing immediate operation with minimal training.
An extensive database provides easy access to a variety of resident information to aid the operator. The system allows full two-way speech facilities between operator, residents and visitors at all times.
The addition of the “OptiCol” CCTV control, also designed by Richard Daley, allows operators of the Hercules system to take control of a wide variety of CCTV control systems via the on screen Graphical User Interface (GUI).
As well as door entry and CCTV monitoring, Hercules is able to monitor a variety of tasks including building management systems, lifts, fire detection, intruder alarms and car park barriers and gates. In fact Hercules is so flexible it can manage virtually any function.
